Grownups often have difficulties putting their thoughts and feelings into words; imagine how difficult it is for a child to talk about thoughts or feelings. Talk therapy works well for adults, but children operate on a different level and respond to therapy that speaks their easily understood language, the language of play. While children are still developing their thought processes and understanding of words, we find they benefit from using their natural language, play.
Children express themselves through this natural language in a playroom using toys, games and activities like adults use words. In play therapy, children have access to therapeutic toys that can enable them to say with toys what they don't have the words to say, they may use dolls, paints, puppets, miniature figurines and other toys a child would normally see to express what they are feeling or thinking.
For most issues a child faces, play therapy is the most effective and affordable way to help a child resolve their issues.
